Loch Arklet View

About us

We are the local communities of Strathard and Loch Katrine in Scotland, including the villages of Inversnaid, Stronachlachar, Kinlochard and Aberfoyle.

A map showing our location can be found
here. Note the extent of forestry already.

The view at Loch Arklet, after miles of driving through wooded and forested areas, is the most spectacular within our whole area. It is loved by locals and tourists alike, and has been the subject of extensive PR and publicity over many years in all types of media.

Loch Arklet is located in the heart of the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, and both tourism and forestry are important to the fragile rural economy here. Much of this area has for many years been covered by forestry planting, and we appreciate the benefits that this brings to the area in terms of employment.

Therefore our objection to the Forestry proposals at Loch Arklet is exceptional. Part of the same planting scheme involves forest planting at historic Loch Katrine, but we have decided to focus on, and object only to, the loss of the Loch Arklet view, where we believe the scenery is world class and should be protected for future generations.
